, oakland police are still surrounding a neighborhood after someone opened fire and wounded an undercover officer. amy joins us live with the search underway. amy? >> this is still in sign of the two men they are looking for. look behind me, the swat team is still engaged in this case with a section of seminary blocked off. you can see the swat vehicle located in the middle of the street. no one is being allowed in or out without a police escort. the officers approve who gets in or out. we were overhead when police say an officer was shot at 6:30. he was working undercover vetting another shooting when he was confronted by three armed men. police say he was shot in the arm. they were able to arrest one suspect. the other two suspects got away. police are still looking on them but they need help. >> we want to ask the community to continue to be vigilant. please contact the oakland police department nonemergency number reporting suspicious activists involving two individuals from the area. >> the chief says that investigators do not know if the officer fired his gun in the confrontation. t

up to my next report. >> we are following a developing story out of oakland where right now police are still searching for two men who they say shot an undercover police officer. this happened just after 6:00 last night on the 1700 block of seminary ave. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. so far they have managed to detain one person possibly who is connected to the shooting. officer was shot suffered " non " life- threatening injuries. >> it is 12 hours after the shooting and officers are still here. they are collecting evidence and they're not necessarily going door-to-door but reportedly one of the suspects dropped their gun and all three of them fled the same. we do know what this point that there is this what bioko out here and they will be here for quite a while. they are not tell me how much longer that will continue to be here. a lot of people in this neighborhood are frustrated because they're not able to walk past the yellow tape to get to their homes. >> i have just learned that the oakland police department's stated that this story is so huge

oakland city council will consider approving the contract of a controversial high profile police consultant, a former los angeles and new york police chief, will be paid $250,000 to turn around oakland's crime wave. tempers flared last week when protesters showed up to voice concerns of possible available profiling. he favors "stop and frisk" where police can stop anyone they feel is suspicious. the oakland city council is scheduled to take up the issue tonight at 6:30. >> in san francisco the use of tasers is the main focus of a community meeting. the san francisco police department is the only agency in the bay area that does not use stun guns. the chief wants to launch a pilot program to equip officers to dole with mentally ill after a police shooting last summer triggered this when a man attack add co-worker with a box cutter. the community forum is at 6:00 at the hamilton recreational center. repairs begin on the bay bridge bumper damaged in an oil tanker crash this month. abc7 news reporter is live in san francisco with details. katie? >> kristen, it has been two weeks sinc

an undercover police officer in oakland. police say the officer was doing an investigation on seminary avenue a few blocks away from the oakland coliseum. that's when three armed men confronted him and shot him in the arm. the suspects took off. officers locked down that neighborhood and launched a full scale intensive search both on the ground and in the air. police were able to catch one of these suspects but two others are still on the run today. the injured officer is being treated at a local hospital and he is expected to recover. we're waiting to hear more from police this morning. we'll bring you the latest information just as soon as we get it. >>> this attack comes hours before the oakland city council is set to vote on a controversial plan to deal with violence in the city. the police chief and the mayor want to spend $250,000 to hire former new york and l.a. police chief big bratton as a consultant to help reduce violent crime. bratton is a controversial pick because of his support for stop and frisk police tactics which some people say will lead to racial profiling

incident after in 2009 when four oakland police officers were gunned down. tonight we've got a chopper overhead trying to look for two men. it's been blocked off for about four blocks on seminary. linked again to the shooting of a police officer. police say it happened just after 6:20 when that officer, an undercover cop was working here, trying to get more information on a weekend shooting that happened in the area. but while he was here, police say three armed men confronted him and before backup could arrive, the undercover officer was shot in the arm. police immediately set up this perimeter, and one man is in custody. while we were here, we did see one man appeared cuffed. we do not know if he was another suspect in custody or if he's just a person of interest. the good news again, the officer is okay, taken to a local hospital. but people we spoke with here told us this has become a common scene. >> i stay here, there was a shooting last week. there's been a lot going on up in here. it's oakland, california. you know, so you know what you got to do is be aware. but seminary, you
